“When someone really hears you without passing judgement on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mold you, it feels damn good…”

About Stephanie
Stephanie Stumbras, LCSW
I’m Stephanie Stumbras, LCSW, and I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than 15 years. I graduated in 2011 from the University of Iowa with my Bachelors Degree in Social Work and Psychology and in 2012 completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have worked in non-profit, community mental health agencies and in the Veteran’s Health Administration as a social worker in the Homeless Prevention Programs and the Suicide Prevention Program. I hold a Master’s in Social Work and am licensed to practice independently in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
My time working in the VA’s Suicide Prevention Program allowed me to develop my expertise in crisis intervention, trauma‑informed care, and resilience‑building. That work shaped my commitment to supporting the people who show up for others every day.
In therapy, I provide a steady and compassionate space where the exhaustion, stress, or numbness you may be feeling is understood — and workable. These reactions are common among people in high-demand caregiving and helping roles, and I draw on my clinical experience to help you regain balance, strengthen coping strategies, and support your mental health in ways that feel both sustainable and authentic.
You deserve support, too. My goal is to create a space where healing, clarity, and meaningful growth feel possible.
